WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE?

As an Underwriting Risk Manager you will provide advice, expertise and knowledge to the local business to ensure business and technical strategies are aligned to risk appetite, and Group policies. You will spend your time monitoring, assessing and challenging the current and expected future performance of insurance portfolios across the business. You will also work with Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial and Group Risk to enhance the understanding of risk appetite, using the risk and portfolio management framework.

• Assessing and managing the risk environment within the regional/local business:


• Insurance Risk Classification (IRC) Process - use this tool to provide an independent review/challenge to the way in which insurance portfolios are managed against best practice; report findings to Group.


• Technical governance activities - running, managing or reviewing:




• Technical Audits


• Self-audit activities


• Underwriting File Reviews (UFR)


• Underwriting licences, ensuring compliance with the Global Licence Framework


• Other licences such as Special High Risk (SHR), ensuring these are compliant, negotiated with Group and effectively implemented locally and regionally.




• Identifying, co-ordinating and reviewing appropriate actions with the business to address issues in the risk environment.


• Managing the regional/local relationship with Group Insurance Risk (GIR).


• Building and maintaining relationships with Underwriting, Claims and Actuarial colleagues, as well as other key stakeholders.


• Reporting: provide management information and ensure all reports meet Group reporting requirements, e.g. IRC, Underwriting and SHR Licenses; as well as the needs of external stakeholders, e.g. external regulators.


• Managing underwriting credit risk for Captives and Aggregate Deductibles ensuring compliance with Group credit risk policy.

 WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
 

• Minimum of 5 years experience working in underwriting, claims and/or actuarial roles.
  
  • Insurance management or insurance risk background is desirable.
